Description

SkillSphere is an online learning platform designed to deliver an engaging and user-friendly educational experience. Built with Next.js and React, the application showcases modern frontend development practices including server-side rendering, component-based architecture, responsive design, and clean, organized UI development. The project was deployed on Vercel and serves as a demonstration of structured Next.js application development.

Challenges Faced

Structuring reusable components efficiently while keeping the UI consistent across different content types was the primary challenge. I specifically had to decide how to split the course listing page between a reusable CourseCard component (for individual cards) and a CourseGrid wrapper that handled the responsive grid layout and gap sizing — putting the grid logic in the parent kept the card component truly reusable on both the home page and dedicated course listing page without duplicated styles. Ensuring the layout remained clean and responsive across all device sizes required careful planning of the component hierarchy and CSS layout strategies, particularly balancing CSS Grid for two-dimensional course listings and Flexbox for one-dimensional navigation and card internals.

Future Improvements

Add a backend with user authentication, course enrollment and progress tracking, a search and filter system for courses, and an instructor dashboard for content management. Integrating a payment gateway for premium course access is also a planned future feature.
